I cant really say i slept good! I am not used to sleep in a tent when it is bright outside all night. It’s just not getting dark!
Today I start with the Nordkalottleden!!!
A few roadwalk kilometer bring me from the Arctic Motel/Camping to the start of the trail.
At the last house before the beginning of the trail there is a tame reindeir tied to the house.
It’s getting wet right away! I am not even 5 minutes on the trail and my shoes are soking wet!
The swamp here is let’s say no much joy. No wonder most people are skipping this section and start with easier hiking.
But whatever…
After the swamp is behind me for a short time i climb my first “mountain”.
Goaskinvarri is 528m high and it even has a book on top!
Little do I know that I will be back here soon again.
After a brief rest I descend fast along the 4w drive road.
The hiking is easy and fast only in the wrong direction…
Since I do not see any marker I check the map and have to walk back…
At the top the trail leaves the 4wd track and I am supposed to hike down on the north west side along a marked off trail way.
After that the trail leads me to a road and then to a gravel road which i follow to Cuovuohppi. There’s a hut, but after a short rest I go further through swampy areas.
Then I ascend out of the mud to some higher ground. ~500m high there are no trees anymore and I camp close to the Rivkkos mountain.
