After a nice night in the tent we get up early and start our day with ascending to kawendel hut.
We arrive there at about 10 am.
After a nice long break (we had to dry our tents and sleeping bags) we climb up to the schlauchkarsattel (2620m) and continue to birkkarspitze (2750m).
The way is rough and involves the crossing of a lot of high alpine gravel fields. Occasionally also some small snow fields.
At the top there is a small hut which can be used for having a break in the shadow or for a night but there is no water supply.
From the small hut it’s about 20 min to the peaks cross.
The desend is in the beginning challenging and continues into still steep but technically easier hike.
Back in the valley there are perfect spots for the tents.
