Me on the Trail from Munich to Venice, 2017

Hi & Welcome,

To my blog about my hiking and travelling experiences.

I am Jan, a 25 years old medical student from Germany who really loves to explore different terrains, climate zones and countries by foot.

Together with my family I was brought on my first overnight hikes, with my own backpack, from hut to hut, in the German- and Austrian Alps already as a young boy.

I started this blog in 2013 for my family and friends to keep them updated about my gap year in New Zealand. It then started to slowly progress into a blog reporting of my experiences of my first thru-hike, the Te Araroa in New Zealand.

“My first thru-hike, the Te Araroa”

The Te Araroa got me hooked and turned out to be only the first of many long distance hikes to follow.

I wrote about the Te Araroa, The Bibbulmun Track and the Larapinta Trail in German and did not find the time to translate any of these into English, so far.

Beginning with the Munich-Venice Trail (München-Venedig Traumpfad über die Alpen) I started to write in English.

I hope you enjoy reading my blog and would be happy if my experiences and pictures help or inspire you to plan your own trip!!
